Cheyenne baby portraits

Cheyenne was my very first all baby shoot!  I was so excited to try something new that I had never done before.  I wasn't sure how it was going to go and I was very nervous, although I don't think anyone noticed (hopefully!).  I definately did lots of research on the internet before for some pointers when working with little ones.  I found some amazing suggestions along with some really bad ones too!  Some of the best ones were: Get down on the baby's level.  Don't use a flash.  A warm baby is a happy baby!  and Let mom help you out.   Luckily mom was is a good friend of mine who I have known since middle school!

I have to say as nervous as I was before the shoot, the photos of little baby Cheyenne turned out beautifully!  I learned a lot along the way too... From baby Cheyenne's photos, I have gained some experience and a lot of confidence for my next baby shoot!

"Napa" Fuller Pet Portraits (9-12-10)

"Napa" Fuller Pet Portraits (September 12, 2010)

Napa's owner entered a photo of her into a pet photography contest I held on Schaffer Photography's Facebook page.  There were close to 30 entries into the contest, with the prize for the winner being a free portrait session of your furry friend!  Napa's winning photo was her as a puppy at the lake sitting on the dock.  She was all wet, licking her face with this big tongue hanging out of her mouth.  Her photo won because it was candid, goofy and of course cute!  Here are just a few from the portrait session!

Williams Bridal Portraits (9-11-10)

Williams Bridal Portraits (September 11, 2010)

The bride was such a good sport for this photo shoot.  It was raining intermittently for the entire shoot, so we would run in and out from under covered portions of the house when the rain had stopped.  She never once complained and the results were some wonderful portraits.  We took these photos on Mill Mountain at Dr. and Dr. Dye's house.  Their house was so beautiful sitting on the side of the mountain, overlooking all of Roanoke.  Here are just a few of my favorites from the shoot!  View more on Schaffer Photography's Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Roanoke-VA/Schaffer-Photography/133979677616?ref=mf)

Smith-Moran Wedding (August 21, 2010)

The bride is getting laced up into her corset dress by her mom.  She is laughing because her mom is pulling the corset as tight as possible and she can't breathe.  At this point I remember telling the bride that breathing is over-rated on your wedding day!

The bride giving me some attitude. Love it!
The ring bearer was so cute.  He was supposed to hold the hand of the flower girl (in the background of the photo) as he walked down the isle.  Instead, he decided to take off running down the isle towards his mom sitting in the front of the church with out the flower girl.  Result: a cute ring bearer sprinting down the isle with the flower girl left going "what am I supposed to do!"

I do!

Bubbles are the biggest trend this year and I can see why.  They add a fun touch to your wedding and they don't require any sweeping or clean up after the ceremony!  No cleaning = Awesomeness

Railroad Kiss

As we were walking around in downtown Buchanan taking photos after the ceremony, the bride was telling me that she grew up in Buchanan.  We came across this alley and I suggested we stop and take a photo there.  Then the bride told me, "Oh, well I grew up in this alley."  We all laughed for a long time, followed by an explanation that her family owned a store around the corner and as kid she used to play in the area, including this alley.

Leah-Murray Wedding

Leah-Murray Wedding (August 7, 2010)

Getting into the dress and the final look.  The bride looked so beautiful!

Classic Beatles shot. I almost got hit by a truck while getting this shot.  What can I say, I am dedicated to my job!

I love these 2 photos together!  The bride is putting his ring on the wrong hand- his face is priceless!  And I love that they both laughed it off together (with all of the wedding guests too) after the pastor mentioned that she might want to put his ring on other hand.

The bride and groom exiting during the recessional. I thought this was a pretty cool shot from the church balcony.

First Dance!

The adorable flower girl

I think the groomsman is really happy about catching the garter...

 Bouquet toss!

Notice the bridesmaid's face on the right about to catch the bouquet- I love the excitement and anticipation in her face!!

She caught the bouquet- way to go!

Leaving the reception and on their way to the honeymoon.  Bubbles!!

St. John - Dickerson Wedding 7-10-10

Laura and John were one of the first couples I ever signed a wedding photography contract with.  I had only photographed one wedding when they picked me as their wedding photographer, so thank you both for having a little faith in me and I am so glad that you both love your wedding photos.
